Early Intervention

Alphabet - Letter/Sound Knowledge - Phonological Awareness Vocab - Comprehension

To meet the needs of the K-1 students who have been identified at risk for dyslexia, the staff of the Luke Waites Center for Dyslexia and Learning Disorders at Scottish Rite for Children has developed a 100-lesson reading intervention called Build: A K-1 Early Reading Intervention. Build is a small group intervention that addresses five specific components of reading intervention. Each component is taught developmentally using a direct, systematic, cumulative, multisensory method of introduction and practice to meet the specific needs of Kindergarten and first grade students struggling in reading. Complete curriculum and re-printable student books.

Rite Flight

Comprehension Curriculum

This is very inclusive for all readers; full of curriculum for Fluency, Comprehension, and Vocabulary. It is a T-2 intervention for all low readers in grades 1-8. This would be a great format for all your teachers, as it is written by Scottish Rite and the progress is significant for struggling readers and teachers. As a reading specialist for 21 years, this is the most structured comprehension process I have ever used.

Fundamental Case K-3

Phonemic Awareness Curriculum

This case is designed to give struggling K-1-2 kids support with reading. This is a one-day workshop that is totally based on structured literacy research. The case establishes eight sequential steps related to the development of phonological awareness. The teachers I would recommend would be K-1-2 and Sped for this workshop. Phonemic awareness is the first foundation of learning to read, and this is the step we must teach. The teachers will leave the one-day workshop with the curriculum and can start teaching it the next day.

Writing Curriculum

This is a full multisensory writing program for kids who struggle to write. I have taught this to Sped Teachers as well as general classroom teachers and they really love it. It also comes with full resources for your teachers to start teaching it immediately. The program also comes with a printable student book, so you never have to purchase the student workbooks. I would love to see all the elementary grade teachers using this to provide a sound writing program so when the kids go from grade to grade, they know writing is going to look the same.
